2nd book in the Loving The Reviews Challenge

Summary (Goodreads):The community of Cryer’s Cross, Montana (population 212) is distraught when high school freshman Tiffany disappears without a trace. Already off-balance due to her OCD, 16-year-old Kendall is freaked out seeing Tiffany’s empty desk in the one-room school house, but somehow life goes on... until Kendall's boyfriend Nico also disappears, and also without a trace. Now the town is in a panic. Alone in her depression and with her Obsessive Compulsive Disorder at an all-time high, Kendall notices something that connects Nico and Tiffany: they both sat at the same desk. She knows it's crazy, but Kendall finds herself drawn to the desk, dreaming of Nico and wondering if maybe she, too, will disappear...and whether that would be so bad. Then she begins receiving graffiti messages on the desk from someone who can only be Nico. Can he possibly be alive somewhere? Where is he? And how can Kendall help him? The only person who believes her is Jacian, the new guy she finds irritating...and attractive. As Kendall and Jacian grow closer, Kendall digs deeper into Nico's mysterious disappearance only to stumble upon some ugly—and deadly—local history. Kendall is about to find out just how far the townspeople will go to keep their secrets buried.

Review:

Creepy, creepy, creepy.  I think it was even creepier because I have a younger sister name Tiffany. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, it was spooky and fast paced. This story was a mystery, and I’m not a hugh fan of mysteries, but this one kept my interest. I read Lisa Mc.Mann’s Wake Trilogy and I loved them, I didn’t know how this book would hold up to them but it was just as good if not better!

Kendall, the main character of the book suffers from OCD, when Tiffany, a freshman at her school  goes missing, the whole town looks for her. After a while with no clue as to where she went, there life soon goes on with it’s normal pace until a new family moves in and Kendall’s best friend goes missing. Kendall finds comfort in Jacian, the new guy at her school.

The Iron Witch Giveaway

The Iron Witch by Karen Mahoney
About the Book:
Freak. That’s what her classmates call seventeen-year-old Donna Underwood. When she was seven, a horrific fey attack killed her father and drove her mother mad. Donna’s own nearly fatal injuries from the assault were fixed by magic—the iron tattoos branding her hands and arms. The child of alchemists, Donna feels cursed by the magical heritage that destroyed her parents and any chance she had for a normal life. The only thing that keeps her sane and grounded is her relationship with her best friend, Navin Sharma.
When the darkest outcasts of Faerie—the vicious wood elves—abduct Navin, Donna finally has to accept her role in the centuries old war between the humans and the fey. Assisted by Xan, a gorgeous half-fey dropout with secrets of his own, Donna races to save her friend—even if it means betraying everything her parents and the alchemist community fought to the death to protect.

                          Howl's Moving Castle (Castle, #1)

       Title: Howl's Moving Castle

       Author: Diana Wynne Jones

      Publisher: Various

     Release Date: first published 1986

    Summary (Goodreads):
In the land of Ingary, such things as spells, invisible cloaks, and seven-league boots were everyday things. The Witch of the Waste was another matter.
After fifty years of quiet, it was rumored that the Witch was about to terrorize the country again. So when a moving black castle, blowing dark smoke from its four thin turrets, appeared on the horizon, everyone thought it was the Witch. The castle, however, belonged to Wizard Howl, who, it was said, liked to suck the souls of young girls.
The Hatter sisters--Sophie, Lettie, and Martha--and all the other girls were warned not to venture into the streets alone. But that was only the beginning.
In this giant jigsaw puzzle of a fantasy, people and things are never quite what they seem. Destinies are intertwined, identities exchanged, lovers confused. The Witch has placed a spell on Howl. Does the clue to breaking it lie in a famous poem? And what will happen to Sophie Hatter when she enters Howl's castle?
Diana Wynne Jones's entrancing fantasy is filled with surprises at every turn, but when the final stormy duel between the Witch and the Wizard is finished, all the pieces fall magically into place.

    Review:
This is the first book review of the Loving the Review Challenge.
I didn't know there was a book until after I saw the anime, so I was expecting it to be exactly like the movie and was surprised when it wasn't. Although it was similar, it was not identical. There were a few differences in the book, for example, Micheal, Howl's apprentice, was Sophie's youngest sister's age, about 15, it seemed like he was much younger in the movie.
Sophie, the oldest of three girls is appointed apprentice to her stepmother, Franny, at her hat shop. She is left alone to attend the shop when the Witch of the Waste stops by and puts a curse on Sophie. Not knowing what else to do she sets off the find the Wizard Howl, thinking that she'll be safe from him because he's only interested in young pretty girls. When she stumbles into his moving castle she makes a deal with the demon, Calcifer, in exchange to break the demon's contract with the wizard, he will break her curse. In the process she learns new things about herself and finds out that the Wizard Howl is not all thats he's made out to be.
This is one of the few times the movie is better than the book, for me, that don't happen very often. This book was a fantasy that had adventure, humor, and a little romance. Will I read the next book, probably if I can find it, finding this one was hard for me.
